The Only True Magic Formula for Business and
Life

We
often look for magic formulas, consciously or not. We seek
out just the right system or employee to improve our profitability, fix
a dysfunctional team or persuade an important prospect.
However, there is no one “right way.”
There is no perfect performance metric as some consultants would have
you believe; not even a balanced scorecard of one type or
another. There is neither algorithm nor artificial
intelligence that will preclude the need for difficult judgments.
Shortcuts that create the same results as honest effort, discipline and
smart action are few to none.
No
marketing campaign will compensate for neglect in product development.
There is no consultant – or wizard – who can fix an organization
dominated by a self-enchanted or boneheaded leader.
There
is only one magic formula that I have found to work again and again.
It has two parts: (1) Know and face the direction of your
destination and (2) Do today what is in front of you.
As
someone once said: “Do what you should do when you should do it and
you’ll have what you want when you want it.”
This
formula never fails.
